Silhouettes footwear is inexpensive and stylish. The only problems shoe shopping at Silhouettes is that their shoe sizes seem to not come in half sizes after 9 1/2. Or if you really prefer to read wear review. For both of these advantages in shoe shopping Zappos is an excellent place to shop. They have a very wide selection of wide and extra wide width women's shoes, in half sizes, with wearer reviews and often free shipping!

Usually the best prices in wide and extra wide women's footwear I find are at Silhouettes and their outlet. And most of Silhouettes shoe and sandal styles are exclusive. But Zappos gives you reviews, better descriptions and, at times, better prices. Therefore, when I can, I will provide price and selection comparisons. I tend to post footwear styles that get excellent reviews for appearance and especially comfort. I hold out for comfort. How good are you going to look if your feet are killing you anyway?

My Money Saving Shoe Shopping Technique

Hide your shoes from your daughter. Just kidding, well sort of, I have done this. Also I have found that you can buy individual sets of Foot Petals, back of heel cushions, from Target. This is much more affordable, for me anyway, than buying them as a set, (Foot Petals - Heavenly Heelz 6-Pair Pack Combo (Black Iris/Silver Rose/Buttercup) - Accessories), from Zappos. I noticed Payless seems to have a version of these, but I have not tried them yet.

What I often do is shop Zappos for style. Then check Shoebuy, by putting the shoe maker and name of style into Shoebuy's search engine. Then see if my size is available. In this way I saved around $17, I believe it was, on the Sofft heeled sandal you can see and read about here.

However: Once these peep toe, extra wide width sling backs above were $12 less as Shoe Buy, now they are less at Zappos, though Zappos has the better size and width selection. It always pays to compare prices at both of these stores before buying! Though as a rule, Zappos, if they have the shoe, will have the best size and width selection. I have been watching this for years, between these two stores, this is the standard.

Naturally you'll find a slightly different selection of wide width shoes of brands both Zappos and Shoes both carry. If you need women's shoes in widths up to wide, it's a good idea to check to see if their price is lower than what you find at Zappos. Likewise ShoeBuy is a good place to compare prices if you catch the shoes you are looking for in stock!

Zappos still has the very largest selection of wide and extra wide width women's shoes so far as I can see. And they get many new styles in quite often.

The pretty pink platform pictured below comes in nine other colors, in widths up to wide. If you need an extra wide, sexy t-strap dance shoe, Magdesians' Lydia will take you from car to dance floor in style and comfort!

Both the Magdesians dance shoe mentioned above and this dress shoe below have nothing but 5 star reviews for comfort, looks and overall from women who wear them! Both come in sizes 5.5 to 14 in widths narrow to extra wide!

These new slip-ons by Annie, also come in widths up to extra wide, in sizes up to 13, in three colors. They too have excellent reviews and are less expensive than the Magdesians footwear styles above!

You can find this new Sofft slip on in this color, and two darker colors at below at Zappos in widths up to wide. This nearly 4 inch heeled wide width sandal has 18 five star reviews for comfort, appearance and overall.

Both Zappos and Shoe Buy carry Sofft women's footwear. Apparently it only comes in widths up to wide. It tends to be worth comparing prices on each style in this brand of footwear, between Zappos and Shoe Buy. Wide widths seem to go out of stock at Shoe Buy fast. I have Sofft sandals myself, and they are indeed high quality footwear!

Soft Spots is a good choice for a brand with a wide selection of quality, highly rated, footwear in widths up to extra wide. These dress sling backs come in six colors in widths up to extra wide!

Many Dress Shoes make good business attire footwear

These slightly dressier sandals would be nice for work or dates. They are by Clarks and come in widths up to wide in five colors.

Dressier loafers and pumps are perfect for those times when you just can not keep up your toenail polish. These heeled loafers have a removable inner lining that wicks away moisture. They also have an innovative, shock absorbing heel design and come in four colors in widths up to extra wide!

These very classic Soft Style Angle II women's wide width shoes. These come in widths AAA to Extra Wide, and are currently available in 6 colors and have 310 five star reviews at Zappos. Where they are just $44, and will likely last for years. I'll let you know a few years from now. One thing I can tell you about these shoes I would have never guessed: You can wear them in hot, sweaty weather, with out hose, and NO BLISTERS!

Granted I wear mine with Foot Petals - Heavenly Heelz 6-Pair Pack Combo (Black Iris/Silver Rose/Buttercup) - Accessories I got a single pair of these at Target for like $7 - $8. But they seemed to be last pair in their shoe department. The Zappos price of $40 for 3 pairs, which is what you'll find if you take that Foot Petals link, seems pretty pricey. On the other hand they have stayed in these shoes since March. Even after repeated wearing on very sweaty feet days. I have had lesser brands leave my heels in the blister zone within hours of their first wearing. Then I avoided wearing any dress shoe that came near my heels for years. So Foot Petals may well be worth the money.

Zappos and ShoeBuy's both have good selections of stylish wide width women's shoes and sandals. They also, often, carry the same shoe, but in different sizes, prices and colors. As a rule Zappos has the wider size, width and color selection. But ShoeBuys will often have the same shoe styles, at better prices.
